14. Searose Beach - Sandlake
The superb day
Today was a crazy day: First I met a 18-years-old guy, who is heading in the same direction at similar speeds and then we decided to try to do more than 100mi today because there were no State Parks reachable in a reasonable day trip.
We started fast and did the first 40mi in a row until I needed my normal McDonalds-Stop ;-) Outside the store I met a crazy woman, who was showing their exchange-students around. She insisted on giving me 15$ for my trip in return I should remember her as a very nice person. Sounds like a deal to me. The money was invested into a big bowl of Ben&Jerrys later that day.
In the afternoon I cycled into a big bicycle-race for the second time on my trip already. This time it was some kind of a fund raiser with more than 2000 participants. Most of the spectators who meant that we were part of that thing supported us very nice. Despite the fact that our bikes were at least 6 times as heavy as the nice carbon race-bikes they had, we overtook some of the very exhausted competitors.
Finally, after a very long day we reached our personal finish at 6:30pm. This was truly a good day in terms of riding. I never did more miles on a bicycle on a single day.
