9. Trinidad - Crescent City

Today started with a nice surprise: On the Highway I met the German couple again, which hosted me for coffee 2 days ago (120mi from here).
Otherwise todays ride was unspectacular: There were some quite challenging hills, one of which was 1200ft. Moreover, I had some headwind but also trailwind in some specific places.
In the Redwoods I had the first "meeting" with wild animals: Around 10 elks were relaxing in a field, maybe 150ft from the street.

As in the days before there was also a lot of touring cyclists traffic in opposit direction: Today I counted 8 touring cyclists. I am still waiting for the first one who also goes to the north like me.

After 55mi I had to realize, that my campground-target was still closed for season, which meant some aditional cycling for me. Now I am staying on a pretty bad County Park in the north of Crescent City and pay three times as much as in the State Parks :(
