Bicycle

Needless to say, the bicycle is the most important piece of equipment on a bicycle tour. Robustness stands above all. The consequence is that the bicycle is pretty old-school: no disc brakes, instead a steel frame.

My biggest problem was my body height. At about 2 m (6′7″) it is not easy to find a bicycle – also because many bicycles are not stable enough to carry a heavy person like me plus additional luggage.

With those constraints there were not many manufacturers left in Europe. But my salvation was pretty close: the company Aarios is located only about 16 km from my home. They build huge bicycles and made the perfect one for me.
